Work

In real life I work for a university writing technical documentation and IT policies (spare me!).

Outside of office hours, any work I do is my own, and I have worked in the areas of private IT support, training, and freelance writing.

I've been writing my own popular web pages for many years now, promoting mountain bike rides in the Blue Mountains. I wrote computing articles for every issue produced of PC Active, a totally Australian personal computer magazine. Unfortunately, the magazine did not survive, winding up after 16 months. I have also written a regular column and irregular articles for Australian Mountain Bike (AMB), as well as regular articles for mtb-oz.com (now 26inches.com), an Australian mountain bike e-zine. I have also tested mountain bike equipment and written reviews for Phantom Cycles, an online mtb shop.

I am able to illustrate my articles with photos and drawings - unless otherwise stated, all images on this site are my own work. Photos and/or drawings of mine have been published by PC Active, AMB, mtb-oz.com, 26inches.com and Phantom Cycles. I have produced video footage that has been used on SBS, and my video article on the Woodford to Glenbrook Classic (Oaks) was published on the 26inches.com DVD.

I am currently working on a book of popular mountain bike rides in the Blue Mountains. One day...

I have worked in training a number of times over my 9 - 5 career, and am very good at translating difficult technical documents into plain english - along the lines of the "for Dummies" series of books.

I am able to provide IT hardware and software support for Windows based PCs - either in your home or mine (mid-Blue Mountains area). My labour rates are reasonable, and if I can't fix it, I don't charge for my time!
